When Caesar died, Rome was forced into an unstable time of war. The two people who were fit to rule were Octavian, Caesar's son, and his general Marc Antony. They had once been very strong allies, but their friendship ended based on their desires to rule and the fact that Marc Antony had divorced Octavian's sister for Cleopatra, the queen of Egypt. The Senate agreed to Octavian's visions of declaring war on Cleopatra. Antony and Octavian battled each other during the battle of Actium in which Antony had many more supplies and ships than Octavian did, but Octavian played it smart. When Antony started to lose the battle, he fled with Cleopatra to Alexandria, Egypt where they both committed suicide a year later to prevent being taken prisoner by Octavian. Later, Octavian ceased the dying Roman Republic and ruled as its first emperor under the name "Augustus".
This is an image of the civil war between Antony and Octavian which took place on the water.
